Event Rental 101: For The Recently Engaged

Now that you’ve got that piece of *shiny bling* on your ring finger, it can seem like a million tasks lie before you. For today’s post, we’re breaking down a few rental tips for you recently engaged folks! We’re detailing the events that you might need rentals for during the length of your engagement. We’re also talking about some general ‘event rental 101’ tips. Interested? Keep reading!

Party like it’s 2019!

Engagement Party
We’ve seen these fiestas becoming more & more popular throughout the years. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate your engagement with your friends and family. Our suggested rentals: Hamptons Bar, Farm Tables, and Industrial Chairs – to name a few! Side note: engagement photo props are a thing! We suggest renting Vintage Furniture for your prop options.

Bridal Shower
Traditionally, the Bridal Shower gets hosted around two months before the wedding. Trending now, are Bridal Shower brunches! For this trend, we recommend: Gold-Rimmed Charger Plates, Gold Flatware, and Mismatched China – among other things, like a throne chair for the guest of honor (Peacock Chairs).

Bachelorette / Bachelor Party
From elaborate get-together, to intimate dinner party, Stag and Hen parties are being planned in a variety of ways. Since there are so many options out there, start with these basics: Chairs, Tables, Linens, etc.

The Wedding, Duh!
Haha, thanks Captain Obvious! To start configuring your rental needs- begin with setting your date and choosing your venue. Then, consider your wedding theme / colors. Tips and Tricks of the Trade!

Numero Uno: Set a date and Choose your venue!
As previously mentioned, this is a great first step for configuring your list of rentals. Reason being: it helps give you an idea of what you’ll really be needing and it allows your preferred rental company to check availability and provide helpful suggestions based on the season / month & location.

Extras & Plan B’s
While we wish things were perfect, it’s inevitable for something to not go according to plan. A guest might bring an unexpected plus one, or sunny skies might turn to rainy days (it is Florida after all). We highly suggest booking a few extras of errythang and having a plan B for your ceremony / reception locations. Also, consider having a back-up pair of shoes 😉

Mind the weather
Piggy-backing off of our previous tip, we want to talk about tents. If 2018 taught us anything, it’s that you can’t predict Florida weather. It monsooned in December! It’s best to play it safe by (at the very least) reserving a tent for any outdoor shindig where there is no indoor space. Read more about our tent reserve program.

Work with a Planner / Coordinator (seriously!)
We know how important your big day is to you, and a Wedding Planner knows that too! You’ll have a million + one things going on leading up to the day, it’s amazing to have someone in your corner every step of the way that knows the in’s and out’s of weddings. Plus, several companies offer courtesy rates for working with preferred Planners / Coordinators! We’ve seen Brides in full make-up having to coordinate day-of details; enjoy this time with your loved ones- take pictures- and enjoy a glass of champagne instead.

Keep an open mind with Pinterest
Oh how we love Pinterest… but it can also be a pain (sorry). Vendors from across the country are uploading their best work (as they should!), which can be misleading during the planning process. Keep in mind that most pictures on Pinterest end up being from photoshoots and encompass all types of budgets. You deserve to have a Pinterest-worthy event, but just have consideration for your budget and the hard-work that goes into each wedding service. Use Pinterest as a tool for inspiration, as opposed to a product catalog. 🙂
